RIPA World Bridge

The Guideinform project
RIPA WORLD BRIDGE – The Guideinform project stems from the need to make disabled people autonomous when traveling.
The mobility issue of visually impaired, partially sighted, and blind people are usually not fixed because it’s difficult to understand that a blind person can move on his own in the urban environment.

The ability to move is a necessary prerequisite for social life, study, work, and leisure. However, in some cases, the environment in which a visually disabled person has to move can be hostile and make orientation skills and any primary aids useless.

Everyone has the right to mobility, including people with disabilities, both temporary and permanent.
The elimination of architectural barriers guarantees the respect of this right.

MATERIALS

The elements that make up the path feature different materials and colors consist of:

THE GUIDEINFORM INDICATORS

The GUIDEINFORM system consists of elements laid on the floors, designed to be sensed under the feet but also visually by the visually impaired, all using only two types of indicators.

Tactile Paving

The Tactile paving consists of three strips of plates laid on the floor to create a raised channel.
When walking along the path, the feet are parallel to the straight signals and, at each step, the user can realize if he is proceeding in a straight line, thus following the tactile track.

Stop and danger signal

Stop and danger signal is crucial as it warns the user not to come any further.
It consists of a series of raised protuberances that the user can feel underfoot.
This signal is, for example, placed along the railway in correspondence with the yellow stripe that indicates to the visually impaired the area near the track on which it is not necessary to stop. It also warns of the presence of stairs, lifts, pedestrian crossing with traffic lights, etc.

BORCHIA copia
RIPA is committed to raising awareness of the concept of accessibility and autonomous mobility of the blind and visually impaired.

For this reason, in addition to designing and manufacturing its aids directly, RIPA offers a design consultancy service aimed at all designers who want to operate in the sector.

The tactile path is easy to install, and it is possible to intervene once the intervention is completed, without changing the laying design.
The versatility of the product and its fixing characteristics make it suitable for all floorings, both indoors and outdoors, for floors featured by any material (ceramic, marble, wood, natural stone, marble, porphyry).

The Guideinform Development

Project developed in collaboration with Urbano Stenta, World Bridge Scientific Consultant. The Guideinform project has been reviewed and approved by the World Disability Union.
